Metis Learning solution has been targeting the tech savvy kids market ever since landing in this business. And their latest Eddy Tablet is one good breakthrough although, with some drawbacks.

This whole Eddy tablet works on an 'Eddy' mode which works the same as any android mode would, with the slight variation Eddy store and their trademark apps. There are two users that need to be created. One, the parent and the other, the child himself. So, it's good for parents who want to keep a tab on everything their children do.

Also, 'Eddy' mode can be switched to 'Android' mode to use Google Play Store and download apps as required from there. And Eddy tablet comes in a variety of exuberant colors which makes it physically attractive while having an equally mesmerizing user interface. There are various learning modes, gaming modes, interaction modes, etc. tho help develop the brain.

However, the tablet doesn't perform as per the specifications. The touch response is slow which is not expected of a 1.6 Ghz and 1GB RAM tablet. Also, the initial loading time after any switch off is considerably high. This doesn't bode well with the speedy children these days. Also, almost every 'Eddy' app is available in Google Play Store under a different name.

Overall, keeping the monetary aspect in mind, Eddy Tablet is a fine buy for any kid less than 10 yrs. old. However, it is not a very long-term gadget and children may loose interest in it very soon.

My Take :
Buy it if you have extra money or want to flaunt a colorful tablet, otherwise, just buy any other better performing tablet and put the same apps as Eddy tablet in it.

  1. This is interesting, though kids don't like it when they know that their parents are keeping tab on them. It will be difficult for Metis to appeal to the kids with this as the parents are, in most cases, persuaded by their kids first before they check out anything.
